GREAT - Greek Architectural Talent is a cooperation between Athens Concert Hall and HERACLES GCCo, member of Lafarge Group, for the promotion of Greek architectural creation. This initiative focuses on the Greek architectural talent and the innovation that springs from this and it attempts to enhance its appeal to the international architectural scene.

The 41 projects of GREAT 2013 exhibition "THEIR FIRST BUILDINGS"

With a great pleasure, we present you the 41 final projects, selected by GREAT 2013 jury, to be exhibited in Athens Concert Hall from 21st May to June 9th 2013.

The Exhibition

The exhibition in Athens Concert Hall is organized around the architectural models that were selected by the jury. Additional material such as drawings and renders complete the exhibition. Memos Filippidis explains why models are the main exhibits of this venture.

Jury

Nikos Ktenàs, Manuel Aires Mateus and Selgascano comprise the international jury that will select the projects for the exhibition “Their First Buildings.” The common Mediterranean lineage of these judges and their consistent academic profile, assure their proximity with the works of students. Furthermore, the distinct profiles of these offices achieve a pluralism and summarize some of the most significant current developments: the austere orthogonal architecture with untreated concrete, the refined version of white minimalism articulated in extreme geometries and the innovative architecture rich in semi transparent and colorful materials.

Curator

By curating the exhibition “Their First Buildings,” Memos Filippidis offers a timely and much needed re-evaluation of Greek architecture. Thus in this exhibition the series of lectures by established architects at the Athens Megaron is complemented by the selection of an international judging committee that will chose students’ projects.
